Now after a while the Giants invaded to get revenge for the unprovoked attack and where eventually defeated thus the only way now to get the Giants Kinship is to go back in time using the Ashen Mist Heart and defeat the Giant Lord, something Nashandra was not capable of doing.
It's why the Giant's Kinship disappears from the land until it reappears in the present when we bring it back from the past. It's why Drummond's armor under the Pursuer's arena is missing its helmet (he gives it to us after the Giant Lord is dispatched).
